Re-Roofing Regulations

Since 2006 any person carrying out re-roofing of an existing property which involves more than 50% of the roof area, must obtain Building Regulation Approval.

This process is designed to ensure that the existing roof structure is checked and that thermal insulation and measures to prevent condensation are included. Failure to follow this procedure is a breach of Building Regulations and you could be liable to a fine. It could also affect the future sale or transfer of a property.

Following our successful acceptance into the Competent Roofer scheme, Roofrite can now self certify for Building Regulations on most roofing refurbishment work, ensuring that when we complete re-roofing projects, our customers will be issued with a completion certificate generated from the Local Authority Building Control Department.

It also means that you do not need to call a Building Inspector to approve the work and will consequently save fees of between £200 and upwards. By choosing Roofrite you will be safe in the knowledge that the correct  procedures are being followed and that you will receive the relevant certificate once works are completed.
